Figure drawing

Maryanne Nicholls ( lives in Suffolk and works from her studio at home. After graduating with a first class honours degree from Suffolk College (University of East Anglia), she went on to Norwich School of Art and Design to complete her Masters in Fine Art.

The discipline of drawing and study of anatomy is central to her practice. Her working method is based on spontaneous gestural mark making, creating form and texture through the immediacy of the process. Her rapid sketches of contemporary dancers in motion inform her larger -scale drawings and ceramics. Her aim is to capture the physicality of the subject, be it the human form or the flowers that grow in her garden.

Her ceramics and drawings feature in exhibitions across the country and her sculptures can be found in private gardens in England and abroad.
